Welcome to the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant (Plant) Master Plan project.

The City of San José is leading the effort to benefit residents and businesses in the eight South Bay cities that daily rely on the Plant to manage their wastewater. This Web site will help you learn about both the Plant and the Plant Master Plan, and provide the opportunity for you to participate in the planning process.

Join us in planning a world-class wastewater facility that benefits you, your family, and your community.

Tell us what you think! We are seeking input from Plant service area residents on "core values" to guide land use scenarios for the Plant's 2,600-acre property. Give input by attending a community workshop or submit your thoughts and comments.

Tour the Plant! See wastewater treatment engineering and science marvels and visit the adjacent Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. The final tour of our 2009 tour season will take place on Saturday, November 21st, 2009 - make your reservation online or call 408-975-2556.

Take the Plant Master Plan Public Values Survey. Santa Clara Valley residents and future generations will be living with the results of the Plant master planning process for many decades to come. Please help us shape a plan that reflects community values by participating in our public input process. Follow this link to take the Plant Master Plan Public Values Survey.

The Plant needs your help. Preventing pollution begins at home and at work, as most pollutants coming to the Plant are from things going down the drain in private homes and small businesses — not from big industry. The Plant does an amazing job removing pollutants from wastewater, protecting our health, and the health of the Bay. But, did you know that the Plant can't remove everything that can end up in the water?

Keep your drains pollutant-free.  Everything that you put down an indoor drain ends up at the Plant. Several things are difficult to remove or neutralize, such as harsh cleaning chemicals, pesticides and fungicides, paint, and solvents. Some or all of them can end up in the Bay. You are actually the final decision maker about whether or not many of these things end up in the Bay. So, protect your pipes and the Bay's water quality —  Visit the City of San Jose's Watershed Protection page for some simple tips and to learn more.
