Coast Guard aircrew rescues 2 utility workers (12.73 MB)
A Coast Guard aircrew rescued two utility workers today who were trapped atop a 140-foot pole along the 1500th Block of Chester Pike in Glenolden, Pa. The Coast Guard received a call at 10:20 a.m. from the Delaware County Police Dept. reporting two workers were trapped on a utility pole after the bucket truck they were in malfunctioned and was no longer stable. The men strapped themselves to the pole and awaited rescue. A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City arrived on scene and hoisted the men and transported them to a nearby baseball field. The men were transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel at the field and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. -
