MARBLEHEAD, Ohio - Charles Herndon was awarded the Coast Guard Public Service Commendation Thursday, Nov.1, 2007 at Coast Guard Station Marblehead, Ohio. Herndon was cited for his courageous action, on Sept. 3, 2007, when he recovered a 7 year-old boy after a plane crash off Kelleys Island, Ohio, and provided additional assistance to rescue agencies following the incident.
