Apply for District Title I Improvement Committee by Nov. 4
The Bellingham School District’s Title I Program is creating a District Title I Improvement Ad Hoc Committee to make recommendations for improving reading and math achievement for students who are not yet at standard.

Students, Staff Earn National and State Honors
Students and faculty from Squalicum and Sehome high schools recently received national and state honors, along with local recognition. Whatcom Middle School principal, a school psychologist for Roosevelt Elementary School, and Sehome High School also received state recognition, and Columbia Elementary launched a school store, thanks to a grant.

Resource Conservation Management Program Helps Save District Resources
The program focuses on reducing energy costs by attempting to limit the district’s energy consumption to minimize operating costs and promote environmental stewardship.

School Board Approves Plan to Reopen Lowell Elementary School in Fall 2010
The Bellingham School District Board of Directors unanimously adopted a Management Action Plan at the Oct. 8 meeting to reopen Lowell Elementary School in fall 2010 and balance student enrollment and staffing at nearby Larrabee and Happy Valley elementary schools.

Jamie Yoos, a chemistry teacher at Bellingham High School, was named 2010 Washington Teacher of the Year at a press conference this afternoon.
