Coast Guard Station Channel Islands conducts medevac off Anacapa Island

OXNARD, Calif. — Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor conducted a medevac of a 28 year-old man who was exhibiting seizure-like symptoms offshore Anacapa Island, Wednesday August 26, 2009.

The Command Center at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach received notification via VHF radio, channel 16, of the need for the medical evacuation from a 48-foot passenger vessel, located off Arch Rock, Anacapa Island.

Station Channel Islands Harbor dispatched a 41-foot utility boat which safely transferred the man from the 48-foot passenger vessel to local EMS.

The man was transferred to Ventura County Hospital in Ventura, Calif. in stable condition.
