Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship passenger SAN DIEGO —A Coast Guard helicopter crew medically evacuated a passenger from a cruise ship 160 miles south of San Diego Friday evening. The Coast Guard received a call from the crew of the cruise ship, Oosterdam, at 2:30 p.m., stating that a 69-year-old man was suffering from a heart attack and requesting a medical evacuation. A Coast Guard flight surgeon was consulted and recommended a medevac be conducted. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Sector San Diego was launched to conduct the medevac, and a C-130 Hercules airplane from Air Station Sacramento to provide cover during the incident. Weather conditions were clear skies, 10 foot seas, and 15 knot winds.
