Coast Guard conducts Fleet Week safety overflights with Navy Blue Angel pilot

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco MH-65 Dolphin helicopter flight crew, accompanied by a Navy Blue Angel's pilot, conducted an overflight today of the area where Fleet Week activities will take place this week on San Francisco Bay.

The overflight was conducted to familiarize the Navy air show performers with the area, determining the location of the Fleet Week buoy, observing obstacles in the airspace and to establish the No Fly Zone for air show performers.

Crews aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Aspen, homeported in San Francisco, placed the Fleet Week buoy. The buoy serves as the center point for Fleet Week events and a visual marker for air show performers.
