New Commander to take helm of Coast Guard Pacific Area
WHO: Vice Adm. David Pekoske, who is being reassigned to Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., as the Vice Commandant, will be relieved by Vice Adm. Jody A. Breckenridge, who is assuming command of Coast Guard Pacific Area and Coast Guard Defense Forces West. Adm. Thad Allen, Commandant of the Coast Guard, will preside over the proceedings. WHAT: The U.S. Coast Guard will appoint a new commander for the Coast Guard Pacific Area, which includes the 11^th, 14^th, 13^th and 17^th Coast Guard Districts. WHEN: Friday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. WHERE: Coast Guard Island, Alameda, Calif. Note: All media need to have press credentials or a government photo ID as well as current registration and proof of insurance to access Coast Guard Island. Please notify the Pacific Area Public Affairs Office before 3 p.m. on July 8 for access to the event. Those who do not call prior to the event may be turned away by security at the front gate. ###
