Coast Guard, local agencies continue search for missing man near Far Rockaway Beach (UPDATE)

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard and local agencies are continuing to search for a man reported missing at Far Rockaway Beach in the East Rockaway Inlet, N.Y., around 8:15 a.m. today.

Missing is Ramone Figueroa, 35.

A 24-year-old woman, Daria Miranda, was recovered by a Good Samaritan and taken to waiting Emergency Medical Service personnel on shore. She is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

A 21-year-old woman who reported the incident stated that all three involved were co-workers and that Miranda and Figueroa were swimming offshore when the incident occurred.

Rescue crews from Coast Guard Station Jones Beach, Nassau County Aviation and New York City Police Department divers are still searching an area in the inlet near the Atlantic Street Bridge in the Rockaways.
