Federal, state agencies to hold regional response team meeting, media, public invited

NEW YORK - The media and public are invited to attend a Regional Response Team II meeting scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in West Point, NY.

 

As the federal component of the National Response System for New York and New Jersey, the RRT II meets regularly to develop policies governing response tools and protocols for oil spills and hazardous substance releases.

 

“The meeting addresses the regional level of the response system and brings federal and state agencies together,” said Scott Lundgren, the environmental response and preparedness liaison for the First Coast Guard District in Boston. “It allows us to continue building relationships with our partner agencies so we’re ready to respond and work together when things occur.”

 

Who:

·   U.S. Coast Guard, co-chair

·   Environmental Protection Agency, co-chair

·   19 federal and state agencies

 

What: RRT II members to participate in a biofuel response training session and discuss Transportation Worker Identification Credentials, the U.S. Airways flight 1549 case study, Port Radiological Detection Program, and the Coastal Zone Environmental Response Doctrine.

 

When: Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from 1-5 p.m., and Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 8:30 a.m., until 3:30 p.m.

 

Where: The Thayer Hotel, located at 674 Thayer Rd., West Point, NY.
