WATERWAYS CLOSURES DURING FLEET WEEK 2008
The following waterway restrictions will be in effect prior to and during Fleet Week 2008.
Tuesday, May 20, 2008:
- No vessels are authorized within 400 yards of the restricted area bounding the Stapleton Homeport Pier on Staten Island from 8 a.m. Tuesday May 20, through 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008.
- No vessels will be authorized to anchor in FA-25, Gravesend Bay Anchorage from 11 a.m. Tuesday May 20, through 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008.
- No vessels are authorized within 250 yards of the restricted area of the New York City Passenger Ship Terminal on the Hudson River between the southeast corner of Pier 86 and the northeast corner of Pier 92 from 9 a.m. on Tuesday May 20, until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2007.
Wednesday, May 21, 2008:
- 4 a.m. Hudson River Anchorage 19, Stapleton Anchorages two thru five, and Gravesend Anchorage are closed to commercial vessels.
- 8 a.m. The last outbound vessel permitted to pass through The Verrazano Narrows Bridge & out of Ambrose Channel.
- 8:20 a.m. The last inbound vessel permitted to enter the Ambrose Channel from sea.
- 10:34 a.m. Fort Hamilton fires 17-Gun Salute to first ship in parade.
- 11:22 a.m. 17-Gun Salute fired to Fort Hamilton from the USS Kearsarge.
- 11 a.m. Ambrose Channel reopened to inbound traffic. No overtaking or meeting of Naval Vessels.
- 12 p.m. Ambrose Channel reopened to outbound traffic. Gravesend Bay Anchorage FA-25 reopened to commercial vessels.
- 2 pm (Time is approximate) Hudson River Anchorage 19 is reopened following parade of ships and mooring of vessels at NYC Passenger Ship Terminal (NYC PST).
- 7 p.m. (Time is approximate) Stapleton Anchorages two thru five will reopen to commercial traffic following the mooring of the naval vessels at the Stapleton Homeport Pier. The Stapleton three anchorage circle (immediately adjacent to the Homeport Pier) will remain closed throughout Fleet Week until the last naval vessel has departed the Homeport Pier.
