Memorial held for Coast Guardsman in Ketchikan

KETCHIKAN, Alaska - Capt. JUNEAU, Alaska - A memorial service was held for Petty Officer 1st Class Sefton Reid at Integrated Support Command Ketchikan Thursday at 11 a.m.

Following the service attended by members of the Coast Guard and the community, flowers were laid on the water in remembrance by Reid's shipmates from Coast Guard Station Ketchikan and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew conducted a fly-by.  An additional memorial will be held by Reid's family in Jamaica later this month.

Reid, 31, with 11 years of Coast Guard service was assigned to Station Ketchikan for the past year.  He leaves behind four children.

Reid died while fishing in Herring Cove eight miles south of Ketchikan Saturday.
