Unified Command to hold press briefing at Alaska Volcano Observatory

*Editor's Note: A press briefing will be held at the Alaska Volcano Observatory at 1:00 p.m. today to address the creation of the unified command and provide an update on the Drift River Terminal and any recent volcanic activity. The Alaska Volcano Observatory is located on the Alaska Pacific University Campus at 4200 University Drive, Anchorage, Alaska.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -The unified command will be holding a press briefing today to formally present their goals and objectives for the Drift River event. Alaska Volcano Observatory staff will provide an update on Mt. Redoubt's activity. 

Over flights by both the Coast Guard and the Alaska Volcano Observatory were conducted Monday. Observations from those flights will be presented at the press briefing. The tank farm remains intact and there has been no inundation of the facility by the additional lahars. No oil has been released. 

James W. Aldrich, designer of the Drift River containment berm will be available for questions.
