Coast Guard emloyee retires after 42 years of civil service at Yorktown, Va.

 

YORKTOWN, Va. - Retired Coast Guard Capt. K. David Forslund presents Billie Rae Hill a Distinguished Career Service Award for her 42 years of civil service in a retirement ceremony held at Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown, May 1, 2009. Hill, a Chincoteague, Va., native and graduate of Chincoteague High School, began her civil service career in 1958 as a procurement clerk at Naval Air Station Chincoteague and worked several government jobs through the next 19 years. In 1977 she was hired by Lt. Cmdr. Jim Loy, who would later become the commandant of the Coast Guard, as the secretary of the Coast Guard Officer Candidate School in Yorktown.
