The Simple Way
Sunday we began our journey into the BlestLife Practice of Simplicity.  The encouragement is to invite the Spirit to point you to an area of your life that can be more simple.  We all have many areas, and many different ways that we can simplify.

I would love to hear and share ideas that people are working with to bring more simplicity in their life.  If you have a way that you seeking to live more simply- please share it with me so that I can share it with others in our church.

One way that I sought to live more simply last year was that I went a year without buying anything new.  I still replaced things in my life that broke- but I sought to spend a year without buying anything that except food.  It was not as hard as I thought it would be and it offered a greater gift of time to my life.

the place where we will all be simplifying together will be through the Advent Conspiracy.  There is a lot of info at their web-site, www.adventconpiracy.org.  I encouragage you to be thinking of how you can simplify Christmas this year using the 4 themes of the conspiracy:
Worship Fully
Spend Less
Give More
Love All

We will be trying to live those ideas out at FPC in a few ways.  Our services during Advent will seek include more carols and music.  Our staff Christmas Party has morphed into Christmas Caroling around town.  Our Advent Festival will now feature a special worship section.  I am sure you have many ways that you can be a part of the conspiracy, once more, please share them with me so we can all be blessed.

We are seeking to live out greater simplicity in what we do at church, but it did not seep into this weekend.  We have a tremendous amount of activity going on this weekend, some great stuff.

-Sat. at 9:30 is the Men's Breakfast

-Sunday we have 2 new small groups starting up- there is the Marriage Group, now called putting your Marriage First meeting at 9:30am in the INN building.  As well there is the Open Door Group at 6:30pm at the church.

At church on Sunday there is a Book Sale/Swap with proceeds supporting the Deacons

After church on Sunday is our Checking Out the Church luncheon.  Please come and join us if you interested in getting more involved with FPC.

Sunday at 6:30PM is the Israel Slide Presentation in the Sanctuary.  Come and hear from the team that travelled to Israel this past June.

That is a lot- but so exciting.

In His Simplicity,

Doug B.
