Celebrating Labor Day-
On Monday we will gather over 6-packs and grills to remember and celebrate Labor.  We celebrate the labor of those whose shoulders we stand upon.  The labor that built the houses we live in, the streets we drive on, and the cars that we drive upon them with.  We celebrate the labor of those cleared the trees, those who plant the trees,  and those who lobby to make sure the trees will be there for the next generation.

This is not a Christian Holiday, but it certainly dovetails on many values in the Christian life.  Here are some ideas to having a meaningful Labor Day.

Spend some time being thankful for your job if you are blessed with one.
Thank those who make it possible for you to have a job.
Send a thank you card to someone who taught you how to work, or someone that offered you a foot in the door.
Pray for those who are looking for jobs.
Give Double tips this week to those who wait on you.
Offer special thanks for the important jobs in our lives that usually don't come with a paycheck (Friend, stay at home parents etc.)
Fill out a comment card on someone who you see working hard.
Try to thank 3 people that never seem to get thanked
Be thankful for all the blessings work brings in our lives

And then fire up the grill and enjoy the last fews moments of summer.

In His Work,

Doug B.
