ICE, Coast Guard interdict 76  Migrants

SAN JUAN, P.R. - The Coast Guard Cutter Ocracoke interdicted 76 Dominican Republic Migrants less than two miles from Rincon, PR, 1:50 a.m. today, after they were spotted by ICE Air and Marine Operations agents.

The Coast Guard immediately dispatched the cutters Ocracoke and Confidence to embark the migrants.  Ocracoke was first to arrive and removed the migrants from their 35-foot yola after giving them lifejackets.  They were then transferred to Confidence.

Once on board Coast Guard cutters, all migrants receive food, water and any necessary medical attention.

The migrants will be repatriated to the Dominican Republic.

The cutter Ocracoke is a 110-foot patrol boat from San Juan, PR.

The cutter Confidence is a 210-foot medium endurance cutter from Cape Canaveral, Fla.
