CHARLESTON, S.C – The Coast Guard continues oil spill assessment and clean-up at Charleston area beaches Sunday.

Assessment teams on Edisto Island and Seabrook Island found tar balls along the shore line Sunday morning. Both the Coast Guard and contracted clean-up crews will focus operations in those locations Sunday and again on Monday.

Clean-up efforts on Sullivan’s Island, Folly Beach and Fort Sumter have been effective and will continue to be monitored by shoreline assessment teams.

The Coast Guard is asking anyone observing oil in the water or on shore related to this spill to call the local hotline at (843)740-7090.
