Coast Guard medevacs 37-year-old woman from cruise ship

 

TAMPA, Fla. - Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., medevaced a 37-year-old woman at about 9:30 p.m. Monday from the 855-foot Carnival cruise ship Inspiration, homeported in Tampa.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Fla., received a call at 8 p.m. Monday from the cruise ship, reporting that crewmember Afrina Ausein, hometown unknown, was suffering from anemic-attack-like symptoms.

The Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 8:45 p.m., lowered a rescue swimmer to the Inspiration, safely hoisted Ausein to the helicopter and transported her to Tampa General Hospital.
