Coast Guard ends search for missing female boater near Anclote Key

PORT RICHEY, Fla. - The Coast Guard ended its search at about 3 p.m., Monday, for a missing 45-year-old female boater near Anclote Key, Fla., after a good samaritan located Paula Migliorini deceased 2 miles west of Hudson Beach, Fla.

A good samaritan contacted search-and-rescue coordinators at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Fla., at about 4 p.m., Sunday, reporting that a unmanned 16-foot sport-craft was found adrift three miles north of Anclote Key with a dog, vessel keys, and a towel aboard.  Shortly after the good samaritan contacted Coast Guard officials, the mother of Migliorini, reported that her daughter had not arrived back at her homeport of Dock of the Bay, in Tarpon Springs, Fla.  Sector St. Petersburg officials correlated the two reports and began conducting searches.

Members from the Coast Guard Auxiliary along with a 24-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Sand Key, in Clearwater, Fla., and an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater searched the area for Migliorini.

Members from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Pasco County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
