| Coast Guard ends search for missing swimmer in Patillas, Puerto Rico |

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Coast Guard rescue crews ended their search Tuesday afternoon for a missing swimmer, who went missing Monday in waters off of Patillas Beach, Puerto Rico. The missing swimmer is Xavier Cruz Guzmán, 21 year-old man, who reportedly was swimming approximately 100 meters from shore, when according to eye witness reports he was last seen going under water and never resurfacing. Coast Guard Sector Coast Guard aircrews flying an Air Station Borinquen HH-65 Dolphin helicopter searched Monday and Tuesday, alongside Puerto Rico State Emergency Management and Police Joint Force for Rapid Action (F.U.R.A.) rescue crews. Puerto Rico State Emergency volunteer divers on scene Wednesday continue their search efforts to find Cruz Guzmán. “Our most heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of our missing swimmer, on the disappearance of their loved one,” said Lt. Cmdr. Rodrigo Rojas, Sector San Juan chief of enforcement. |
