Coast Guard participates in Oil Spill Response Exercise

 

**EDITORS NOTE** - Media are invited to attend the oil spill response exercise March 13. Media interested in attending the exercise should R.S.V.P. with LTJG Rachel Perrot at (843) 296-4400 no later than 4 p.m. March 12. Media will be departing from the County Farm Boat Launch on the Ashley River to view the exercise. 

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Coast Guard Sector Charleston will host an oil spill response exercise on the Ashley River in the vicinity of County Farm Boat Launch Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The participating agencies will practice booming and pollution response mitigation techniques in accordance with the South Carolina Coastal Area Contingency Plan. This type of exercise is critical so that the responding agencies can quickly and effectively respond if an actual spill occurs.

Coast Guard Station Charleston, Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team Charleston and Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotillas from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Charleston, S.C. and Edisto Beach, S.C. will all be participating in the exercise.
