Technology Across Washington: TAG Chapter Scholarship Awards

The Technology Alliance Group (TAG), the Northwest Chapter of WSA held their annual Holiday & Scholarship Awards Event December 10th, 2003 at Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant in Bellingham, WA.
On hand to celebrate this event was WSA's Director of Government and Public Affairs, Lew McMurran, who joined the WSA’s TAG Chapter members, guests, and scholarship recipients.
Recipients of WSA’s TAG Scholarship Awards this year were Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College, and the Bellingham Technical College. Award dollars are provided for students specifically focused on technology-related studies.
"Our scholarship program supports the mission of WSA’s TAG Chapter, to promote, educate and advocate for the Northwest Washington technology businesses", says Paul Grey, Chair of the TAG Chapter and CEO of AudienceCentral. Grey notes, "The number of high tech businesses in the area is growing rapidly and subsequently the demand for qualified workers in technology professions. Our goal is to encourage students to consider computer and Internet related studies in their academic endeavors."
"At Bellingham Technical College our goal is to provide professional technical education to prepare students for the future industry demands. We accept the scholarship as a token of appreciation and support." says Gerald Pumphrey, President of Bellingham Technical College.
In addition to the scholarship awards TAG's members appointed three new members to the Steering Committee. They are: Rob Takemura, Membership Development, from Applied Digital Systems; Anna Ehnmark, Public Relations from OpenAccess Network Services; and Curtis Dye, Community Partnerships from Interconnect Systems.
TAG thanked the following Steering Committee members for their dedicated efforts over the past year: John Gargett, Past Chair; Amy Esary, Programs; Yvonne Cartwright, Public Relations; and Anne Bowen, Community Partnerships.
