TAG to host Tech Stomp - Annual Scholarship Fundraiser and Industry Celebration on September 22

Contact: Anna Ehnmark, 647-4220

BELLINGHAM - The Technology Alliance Group for Northwest Washington (TAG) will host its fifth annual Tech Stomp industry celebration and scholarship fundraiser on September 22 at the Squalicum Boathouse in Bellingham's watefront. Tech Stomp gives the technology sector in NW Washington an opportunity to support future leaders and contributors to the technology-based industry. Tech Stomp scholarships have helped dozens of students pursue education paths to their careers in technology.

Tech Stomp features a keynote presentation by Dr. George 'Pinky' Nelson Hall of Fame Astronaut and Director of Science Mathematics and Technology Education at Western Washington University. The program also includes an update from Paul Grey Board Director of TAG who will share stories from the 2008 scholarship recipients.

"The graduating workforce is the backbone of the future economy in the region - and projections show far too few graduates in science, math and technology fields. Tech Stomp celebrates what we've accomplished in the local technology & engineering economy, and helps ensure more to celebrate in the future." said Anna Ehnmark, Executive Director of TAG.

Net proceeds from Tech Stomp will go to the TAG Scholarship Fund, which grants scholarships to students in technology fields attending colleges in Whatcom County including: Western Washington University, Bellinham Technical College, Whatcom Community College, and Northwest Indian College.

This fun event features wine and appetizers, live music by members of the Walrus, a bocce ball tournament with randomly assigned teams and a Hawaiian shirt and Muumuu dress contest.
