Dear Members and Guests,

Please join us on Friday September 15, to learn more about Corporate Blogs. Companies large and small are now realizing the importance of weblogs as a communications channel for reaching not only their customers but other business stakeholders such as business partners and employees. As a result blogs for corporate use is rising in popularity. So what is a blog and what is the best use of a blog for a business?  How do you set up a blog and what are the resource (financial and technical) required to maintain an effective blog?  And what about the benefits and pitfalls of posting your comments to the vast number of blogs that already exist on the internet? To help answer these questions and more we have the pleasure of inviting Gerald Baron,  President and CEO of Baron & Company and Bob Pritchett, President and CEO of Logos Bible Software to talk about their experiences with the use of corporate blogs. They will also give advice on the most effective use of this new media channel.

About Gerald Baron:baron.jpg
Gerald Baron, is the President and CEO of Baron & Company, a strategic communication firm located in Bellingham, Washington and founded 25 years ago. Prior to forming Baron & Company, Mr. Baron was co-founder and vice president of marketing for DIS Corporation, a successful vertical market software company. In 2000, Mr. Baron designed the PIER System which later led to the creation of the company AudienceCentral. The PIER system reflects Gerald's in-depth experience in both routine corporate communications and crisis management, as well as experience in designing interactive Internet applications designed to enhance business relationships. In his crisis and public relations consulting Mr Baron is currently working with two large national firms advising on blog strategies, online critic response, etc.

Mr. Baron holds a degree in Speech Communications and Art from Seattle Pacific University. He completed a MA in Communications at Wheaton College. Bob Pritchett is the president and CEO of Logos Bible Software, a privately held corporation located in Bellingham, WA.  Pritchett and a partner started writing Logos Bible Software while working at Microsoft; they left their day jobs in 1992 to co-found Logos Research Systems. During the past 15 years, Logos has grown from an operation run, literally, from the basement of the Pritchett home into the largest developer of software for the Christian market and a worldwide leader in multilingual electronic publishing. With customers in 143 countries, Logos has sustained double-digit sales growth every year since 2002 with sales of $8.9 million in 2004. The company currently employs 100 people at its Bellingham, Washington, headquarters, with another half dozen in Johannesburg, South Africa.
