Marine Safety Unit Toledo transfers command

TOLEDO, Ohio – U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Toledo is scheduled to hold a change-of-command ceremony at the Valentine Theater, here, Thursday at 11 a.m.

Lt. Cmdr. Keith Pelletier, current commanding officer of MSU Toledo, is set to be relieved by Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Floyd during a formal ceremony conducted before the assembled personnel of the command. Pelletier graduated from Coast Guard Officer Candidate School in 1995 and has since served at Marine Safety Office Philadelphia, Marine Safety Detachment St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Training Center Yorktown, Va., where he was chief of the Marine Inspection and Investigation School.

Floyd’s previous assignments include Group San Diego, Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Marine Safety Office, Memphis, Tenn., Marine Safety Office Louisville, Ky., Marine Safety Office Charleston, S.C., Sector Charleston, S.C., and the Fourteenth Coast Guard District, Honolulu.

Capt. Fred M. Midgette, Commander of Coast Guard Sector Detroit, will preside over the ceremony, and a reception for invited guests will follow.

The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored, military tradition that confirms to the men and women of the unit that total responsibility, authority and accountability have transferred from one individual to another.
