SAINT IGNACE, Mich. -- U.S. Coast Guard Station St. Ignace medically evacuated a crewmember from the motor vessel Joseph Block at 5:45 a.m. today a mile and a half offshore.
A 35-year-old male was struck by a chunk of ice after he stuck his head out of a porthole, causing severe head and face trauma.
The Coast Guard rescue boat transported the man to St. Ignace where local EMS transported him to a hospital.
