COAST GUARD RESCUES INJURED TEEN OFF ISLAND

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Coast Guard medically evacuated an injured teenager off Chambers Island, Thursday.

The 17-year-old male was flown to St. Vincent's Hospital, in Green Bay, for treatment of injuries he suffered in an off-road vehicle accident.

Two good samaritans called 911 and kept him in stable condition until Emergency Medical Services could arrive.

At approximately 11 p.m., a crew of an HH-65 Dolphin Rescue Helicopter, from Air Facility Muskegon, Mich., arrived at Chamber Island to transport the teenager to a hospital.

"The Coast Guard recommends that people carry a radio or cell phone when traveling in remote areas," said Lt. David French, Public Affairs Officer for the Coast Guard Ninth District. "This young man was rescued because someone was able to call for help."

For further information contact Petty Officer Will Mitchell, Ninth District Public Affairs Office, at (216) 310-2608.
