USCG AIR STATION ASSISTS FLOOD VICTIMS IN OHIO 

DETROIT - U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Detroit launched a helicopter, today, to assist Ohio flood victims.

An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter was launched this afternoon and recovered two people from the roof of a house in the city of Shelby, Ohio.

The Coast Guard helicopter was requested to assist with the search of flood victims by the Richland County Emergency Management Agency.

  • Lt. j.g. Mark Wyckoff, pilot
  • Lt. j.g. Derek Lehr, pilot

  • Petty Officer Brian Doolittle, rescue swimmer

U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Detroit is co-located at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Mt. Clemens, Mich.  Their missions include search-and-rescue; port, waterways and coastal security; illegal drug and migrant interdiction; enforcement of U.S. fisheries laws; marine law enforcement; marine environmental protection; ice surveillance operations and defense readiness in the Eastern Great Lakes.
