GREEN BAY ICE BREAKING OPERATIONS SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw will enter Green Bay at Rock Island Passage the week of 19 February 2007. From there the new ice breaker will proceed south to the ice field in the vicinity of Chambers Island to evaluate the conditions there. Cutter Mackinaw will transit down the charted Lake Carriers Association (LCA) track lines then back out along the exact same track. Recreational users of the ice should plan their activity carefully, use caution near the ice, and stay away from shipping channels and the chartered LCA track lines.
