Coast Guard medevacs man from fishing vessel 200 miles south of Venice, La. |

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a fishing vessel approximately 200 miles south of Venice, La., Saturday. Watchstanders at the Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans received a request for assistance at approximately 9:40 a.m. from crewmembers of the motor vessel Banda Sea, a 575-foot cargo ship. The crewmembers reported a 45-year old crewmember was experienceing chest pains. Watchstanders launched an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, which arrived on scene at approximately 10 a.m. At approximately 2 p.m., the helicopter crew arrived at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La., and transfered the man to awaiting doctors.
