COAST GUARD SEARCHING FOR MISSING CREWMEMBER

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard is searching for a man who reportedly fell overboard from the motor vessel, Sun Day, in the Gulf of Mexico south of Atchafalaya Bay, early this morning.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans recieved a call from a crewmember aboard Sun Day reporting that the man had fallen overboard and the captain of the vessel jumped in after him with a life ring and was able to reach him, but the man submerged into the water and the captain was unable to rescue him.

Sector New Orleans launched a 25-foot smallboat from the Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit in Morgan City and a HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew from Air Station New Orleans.
