COAST GUARD MEDEVACS BURN VICTIM FROM SHIP

 

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard medevaced a 22-year-old man from a chemical tanker ship in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 120 miles southwest of the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River, today.

At approximately 10 a.m., a watchstander at the Coast Guard's Atlantic Area Command Center received a call from a crewman aboard the vessel, Jo Ask, requesting medical assistance.

A HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and a HU-25A Falcon jet and crew from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., were launched to assist.

The HH-65 crew hoisted the man and safely transported him to Baton Rogue General Hospital in Baton Rogue, La., for treatment.
