Coast Guard Coordinates Medevac
|
NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard coordinated with the Air Force in the medevac of six people in the Gulf of Mexico, 300 miles south of New Orleans, today. The Coast Guard received a report from a crewmember aboard the vessel Eos, an 800-foot tanker ship, stating they had made visual contact with another vessel, which was in distress and appeared to have a person aboard in need of medical assistance. The Coast Guard diverted cutters Key Biscayne and Cyprus to assist in the medevac.
The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center launched a H-60 helicopter crew from Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to conduct the medevac.
All persons medevaced were taken to West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans. ### U.S. Coast Guard - Saving lives since 1790
