COAST GUARD MEDEVACS INJURED CREWMAN | |

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard medevaced a 26-year-old male from a vessel about 30 miles east of New Orleans this afternoon. A watchstander at Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans received a call at 12:33 p.m., from Sector New Orleans, reporting that a crewman working on a fishing vessel had been injured. The injured man was reported to have a severed thumb. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans crew launched a rescue helicopter to pick up the man and transported him safely to West Jefferson Hospital.
