COAST GUARD MEDEVACS STRANDED FISHERMAN

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard medevaced a 39-year-old male from an oil rig located approximately 90 miles south of Lafayette this afternoon.

An HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew received the call at 12:30 p.m. from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, reporting that a stranded fisherman was recovered from a platform by a Good Samaritan helicopter and transferred to an occupied platform.  The HH-65C crew successfully hoisted and transported the patient to Houma-Terrebonne airport where he was met by an ambulance and transported to Terrebonne General Hospital.

The condition of the fisherman is unknown.
