COAST GUARD RESCUES 13 PEOPLE LEFT STRANDED ON A PIER 

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Coast Guard rescued 13 people who were left stranded on a pier in Port Aransas, Texas, Wednesday night.

Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi recieved a call at 5:30 p.m. from the Port Aransas Police Department. The police officer reported that 13 people were stranded after 25-feet of the pier they were fishing from had collapsed.

Two Coast Guard rescue boat crews from Station Port Aransas immediately responded and safely transported the 13 people to another dock in the area. The rescue was completed within 30 minutes and no injuries were reported.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admintration (NOAA) had issued a coastal flood advisory earlier in the day for Port Aransas, and was anticpating a two foot increase in the tide.

The incident is currently under investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard.
