MARINE SAFETY DETACHMENT VICKSBURG OPENS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Commander of Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River is pleased to announce the opening of Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment (MSD) Vicksburg in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  MSD Vicksburg, located at 225 Coast Guard Road, is responsible for responding to marine casualties and hazardous materials spills that occur on the Mississippi River between Mile Marker 303, near the Old River Control Structure in Louisiana, and Mile Marker 595 in the vicinity of Rosedale, Mississippi.  In addition, responses are conducted along areas of the Ouachita, Black, Arkansas, White, Red, and Yazoo Rivers.  This office, along with detached duty members operating in Greenville, Mississippi, also conducts vessel and facility inspections for compliance with federal regulations.
