As a result of the recent contract agreement with the Bellingham Education Association (BEA) -- the teachers' association -- Friday, Nov. 20 has been added as an early release day for all students in the Bellingham School District. Families are asked to please make this change on their calendars. To view the updated school year calendar, please click here.

Elementary, middle and high school staff members use the time on early release days to improve student learning by planning and working with their colleagues on instruction, curriculum, assessment, professional development, parent/family/teacher conferences and communication.

 The first early release day for this school year is Monday, Sept. 28. Schools will dismiss using the following early release day schedule:

  • Elementary, 12:30 p.m. dismissal
  • Middle, 11:30 a.m. dismissal
  • High school, 10:30 a.m. dismissal
  • Options/GRADS, 12:30 p.m. dismissal
