Tromburg was an elementary principal at Ben Lomond Elementary from 2000-2006 and at Lark Ellen Elementary from 1993-2000, both located in Covina, Calif. She earned her master's degree in education in 1991 and her bachelor's in psychology in 1985, both from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.

Both Korn and Tromburg will begin their new positions in August.

Current Alderwood principal Nick Payne has accepted a position as principal of North Bellingham Elementary in Ferndale and current Parkview principal Teresa VanHaalen will be the new curriculum director for the Mount Vernon School District.

Also at the May 24 School Board meeting, current Lowell principal Rob McElroy was appointed as the planning principal for the future Yew Street Road elementary school. Lowell teacher and administrative intern Nicole Talley was appointed as interim Lowell principal. McElroy will continue to work as Lowell principal until January 2008 when he will then take on the responsibility of preparing for the Yew Street Road school to open in fall 2008. He will then continue as the new school's principal. Talley will serve as Lowell's interim principal from January through June of 2008, when Lowell temporarily closes while seismic work is completed there. Lowell students will attend another southside elementary school during this time. Before the school reopens, a principal for Lowell will be hired.
