Kindergarten registration begins March 5 and the Bellingham School District is encouraging families to visit their neighborhood elementary schools and learn more about the kindergarten program.

View a searchable elementary school boundary map at http://www.bham.wednet.edu/district/attendance.htm or call 676-6512 to determine your neighborhood school. Students attend schools based on boundary areas. Call your neighborhood school find out the schedule for meeting the principal and taking a school tour.

Registration information and requirements:

  • Registration begins Monday, March 5
  • Children must be 5 years old before Sept. 1 to attend kindergarten. If not, children must take a district assessment in the summer to determine if they qualify for early entrance. For more information on age requirements, visit http://www.bham.wednet.edu/families/entranceage.htm
  • School offices are open for registration from 9a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Please bring proof of you child's birth date and immunizations record. For immunization requirements, visit http://www.bham.wednet.edu/families/Immunizations.htm

The district's kindergarten is a half-day, every day program. All elementary schools offer kindergarten classes from 9 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. Due to space limitations, it is anticipated that Carl Cozier, Columbia, Geneva, Happy Valley, Larrabee and Northern Heights elementary schools also may offer kindergarten classes from 12:55 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
