Board Reviews Designs for New Elementary Schools

Advisory committees of staff, students, parents/guardians and community members, together with the architectural teams for each school, have completed their input on the initial design of the two new elementary schools at 4420 Aldrich Road and at Yew Street Road near Tacoma Avenue. The School Board reviewed the proposed schematic design plans at the Dec. 14 meeting. The Yew Street Road school is expected to open in fall 2008.

Update on Superintendent Search

The Board of Directors selected a consultant at the Dec. 14 meeting to assist with a search for a new Superintendent. Dale Kinsley will retire in June after 16 years as Superintendent.

The partnership of Cascade Consulting Group and Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, Ltd., provides both regional and national recruitment. The Board will now work with the consultant to determine the timeline and process. Information about the search process will be shared with staff and community. Board Re-Appoints Officers
 
The Bellingham School Board of Directors re-appointed Dr. Ken Gass as Board president and Stephen Schoenfeld as vice president at the Dec. 14 meeting.

Annually, at a regular December meeting, the Board of Directors elects a president and vice president from among its members. The Board consists of five members elected at large by district voters.  Each member is elected for a four-year term. Click here to read more...
