How is your Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC)?
What is an SPCC Plan?
An SPCC Plan is required if a facility has an aggregate storage of oil (i.e. Jet Fuel, Av-Gas, Motor Oil, etc.) of 1,320 gallons in containers 55 gallons and larger. If your facility has this threshold you are required to develop a written plan that outlines control measures onsite (i.e. containment walls, valves, etc.), training, spill cleanup techniques, etc. For facilities with 10,000 gallons or more of oil onsite the SPCC also has to be certified by a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
The SPCC regulations have gone through many changes in the past several years, and were recently republished in 2010. If you haven't reviewed your plan since then, or don't have one in place this is the time to do it as all facilities are required to have an up-to-date SPCC plan by November 2011.
