Coast Guard suspends search for bicycle owner-Update- |
|

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard suspended its search for the owner of a bicycle left on the Washington State Ferry Puyallup, after sailing from Seattle to Bainbridge, Wash., Tuesday. The search was suspended at approximately 10:40 p.m. after a Coast Guard rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Group/Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., searched nearly 4 hours in case the bike's owner fell overboard. The search began after the bike was found at 6:10 p.m. when the Puyallup pulled into port in Bainbridge. The bike is described as a blue and green Kona and was left behind with a gray helmet. Coast Guard Sector Seattle was notified that there was a bicycle left on the ferry and at 6:45 p.m. a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle was launched to begin a search. Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to assist. The Coast Guard searched the ferry's course in case the bike's owner fell overboard. Washington State Ferries on the Seattle to Bainbridge route have also been conducting searches throughout the evening with no indications of distress. Additionally, security camera footage from the Puyallup has been reviewed with no information regarding the owner of the bicycle or any signs of distress.
