Thirteenth Coast Guard District commander inspects vessels for Operation Safe Crab |

ASTORIA, Ore. – Rear Adm. Gary Blore, Thirteenth Coast Guard District Commander, and Lt.j.g. Joe Miller, Coast Guard Group Astoria, Ore., Fisheries Officer, inspect an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon aboard the 78-foot fishing vessel Northern Endurance, at the Warrenton Marina in Warrenton, Ore., Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009. Coast Guard examiners also looked over survival suits and liferafts to ensure that these critical safety items are ready for use should an emergency occur at sea. The inspections are part of Operation Safe Crab, the Coast Guard’s continuing initiative to reduce the number of fisherman’s lives lost at sea.
