Coast Guard searching for owner of bicycle left on Seattle ferry

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard searching for the owner of a bicycle left on the Washington State Ferry Hyak, after the 6:45 p.m. sailing from Seattle to Bremerton, Wash., Friday.

The bike was found at 7:41 p.m. when the Hyak pulled into port in Bremerton.  The bike is described as a men's blue, older model Schwinn.

Coast Guard Sector Seattle was notified that there was a bicycle left on the ferry and at 8:22 p.m. a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle was launched to begin a search.

Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew along with the Port Angeles Police, and the Seattle Fire launching crews to assist.

The Coast Guard, Seattle Fire and Port Angeles Police are searching the ferry's course in case the bike's owner fell overboard.
