Coast Guard responds to fishing vessel grounding near Newport, Ore.
— Update Two —

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Coast Guard monitored the offloading of diesel fuel from the 50-foot fishing vessel Lori Ann on Nye Beach near Newport, Ore., Wednesday.

Due to weather, Wednesday’s scheduled removal of the vessel was postponed.   The refloating of the vessel is scheduled to resume at 6 p.m. Thursday when clear visibility and a high tide is expected.

The Lori Ann had a crew of two people and was carrying approximately 1,800 gallons of diesel fuel when it ran aground around 2 a.m. Tuesday.  A remaining 60 gallons of diesel fuel has been left onboard to allow the vessel to operate once it's refloated.
