Coast Guard, local authorities, searching for missing person from Washington State Ferry

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing person after a red Huffy Eagle Sport bicycle was found unclaimed on the Washington State Ferry (WSF) Kitsap, Wednesday.

The bicycle was located abandoned on the Bremerton, Wash. to Seattle ferry by WSF employees who have been unable to verify if the owner of the bicycle exited in Seattle.

WSF personnel conducted a search of the Kitsap and found no one associated with the bicycle. WSF is working in conjunction with Washington State Patrol to identify the owner of the bicycle.

An HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Port Angeles, Wash., was launched at 9:25 a.m. to conduct a search as well as a 25-foot small response boat crew from Station Seattle.

The identity of the owner of the bicycle is not known at this time.

If anyone has information regarding the identity of the missing person, please call the WSF Operations Center at (206) 515-3441.
