Search for missing boater near Astoria, Ore.

ASTORIA, Ore. — The Coast Guard conducted a search for a man at Tongue Point near Astoria, Ore. Sunday.

The man and another boater were operating a pleasure craft when they struck a submerged object causing the boat to flip.  One of the two boaters was pulled from the water by a Good Samaritan, but the other could not be located.  Coast Guard Air Station Astoria received the report at 12:26 p.m. and dispatched an HH-60 helicopter crew while a 25-foot motor lifeboat crew left from Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment, Wash.  Two Good Samaritan vessels also joined the search.

The man was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket and green pants.   Neither man was wearing a lifejacket.  Anyone who locates the missing boater should contact the Coast Guard at 503-861-6211.
