COAST GUARD SEARCHES FOR THREE MISSING FISHERMEN - UPDATE | |
| SEATTLE - Coast Guard Sector Portland is responding to a report of three missing fishermen in the vicinity of Stevenson, Wash., approximately 30 miles east of Vancouver, Wash., today.
Sector Portland received a call at noon from the Skamania County Sheriff reporting three men missing. The three men, treaty tribal fishermen from the Yakama Nation, left Tuesday and were scheduled to return at 8 a.m. today. A capsized unregistered tribal vessel, matching the description of the missing vessel, has been found in shallow water by mile marker 155 near Stevenson, on the Columbia River.
Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60C Jayhawk helicopter crew. A commercial tugboat is heading to the capsized vessel and is expected to arrive later this afternoon.
